Meet the Team Spotlight: Tim Giles

 

If you know Tim Giles, you already know how completely agonizing it was to get him to participate in this interview. He doesn’t like the spotlight, doesn’t want his photo taken and certainly isn’t one to overshare!

 

In other words, he doesn’t have the typical salesman traits.

 

Yet, he’s been with Cutting Edge Supply for over 22 years and has the no-nonsense, put your head down and get to work type of mentality that thrives in the heavy equipment industry.

 

Born and raised in Chino, the Outside Sales Rep racks up serious miles on his truck with customer visits and deliveries across Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.

 

Prior to joining Cutting Edge, Tim was working in product support at a Volvo Hitachi Construction dealership. At the time, a sales job wasn’t necessarily on his radar, but he was interested in being challenged.

 

“I love the flexibility of outside sales with CES as no two days are ever the same,” said Tim. “It’s been great to work for a company that has a vision as well.

 

“This company started off selling aftermarket wear parts but has continued to evolve and expand. Nobody has the versatility, the machining, the welding and forming capabilities or the inventory that we have. Today I can sell this, tomorrow I can sell that. It’s so diverse and there are so many avenues of how we can approach customers with solutions. I think CES has really set the standard in the industry in that regard.”

 

On a personal front, once again, Tim was loath to cough up much. But here’s a few tidbits from the quite affable salesman … His go-to radio channel as he traverses SoCal on the regular? Anything country. His go-to lunch stop? Del Taco.

 

“Because they are everywhere, they are convenient and I know the secret menu,” he stated.

 

Otherwise, he considers himself a “hacker” on the golf course, loves speeding down the river on his boat on the weekends and spends the rest of his time chasing after his adorable three-year old son.
