Meet the Team Spotlight: Steele Brenner

As the largest Hardox® wear plate dealer in North America, you can imagine how many times the word “steel” gets tossed around in a typical Cutting Edge Supply meeting or out in the field.

It certainly keeps Outside Sales Rep Steele Brenner on his toes.

“They say my name about 100 different times, so I definitely have to listen carefully to know when they are talking about me versus the metal,” he said.  “But I guess I was named right for a guy who now sells steel for a living.”

In June 2021, Steele began learning the ropes in the shipping department at Cutting Edge headquarters in Colton, California.  At the start of 2022, he moved into an Inside Sales where he supported all six locations and by that summer, he transitioned to an Outside Sales Rep in San Diego.

“I am grateful for how I started with Cutting Edge,” says Steele. “Working in those different departments and locations helped build my knowledge and understanding of all the many ways we can assist our customers. Our company works with so many integral industries – mining, construction, aggregate, agriculture, waste & recycling  — and we have products and services that uniquely cater to their needs.”

This past June, Steele relocated to Sacramento, and now services the Bay Area and on up through Santa Rosa, Chico, Redding and Yreka. It’s a lot of ground to cover, but he’s very much enjoying the new challenges and day-to-day variety of his job.

“I enjoy being out in the field, inspecting equipment and finding new ways to support my customers,” says Steele. “It also makes my life easier as a salesman to have such great resources at my disposal. We have a great drafting team that makes my rough-looking templates into art, and a shop that can pretty much make anything I ask for while using high quality steel to extend wear life for my customers.”

Outside of work, Steele is never one for sitting still.

“I prefer to constantly be on the go,” he said. “Golfing, playing pool and going to sporting events or concerts.  Anything that is outdoorsy, I’m down.”
