Meet the Team Spotlight: Ryan Oestreich

Man in industrial zone

Welding, tinkering and building parts for cars from scratch has been a hobby—and skill— for Cutting Edge Supply Outside Sales Rep Ryan Oestreich since he was a young teen.

“I love building old cars,” said Ryan. “Starting when I was about 14, I’d hang out with my dad in the shop in the garage. We worked on building my first car together, and I haven’t stopped since.”

In line with the blue collar industry he’s spent his life working in, Ryan is not about flash when it comes to the cars he works on. Instead, he embraces the rat rod mentality.

“We get it to where it is roadworthy and safe— the insides beautiful and clean,” he shared. “But we leave the body all beat up and damaged, and you drive it because it looks cool.”

Ryan joined the Cutting Edge Supply team about four years ago, bringing more than 20 years of industry experience along with him.

Right out of high school, the Phoenix resident took a job with a local CAT dealer, handling parts inventory in the warehouse. He worked his way up to Inside Sales before eventually moving on to serve as an equipment superintendent for a civic construction powerhouse in the Valley.

“I loved the freedom of working in construction,” he shared. “The decision making, solving problems, trouble shooting and mostly, just watching stuff get built from the ground up.”

Even with two decades of experience under his belt, he remains inspired by the heavy equipment industry.

“Just the amount of dirt that some of these guys can move in a short amount of time is impressive,” he shared. “Especially with these new industrial buildings in how quick you can have a floor and four walls done. It still amazes me that they can have a building up in 3-4 weeks.”

Ryan’s sales territory ranges east of I-17 to North of I-8, allowing him to frequent construction, mining and aggregate sites, where he feels Cutting Edge holds an advantage.

“What we do, how much we do and the fact that we do almost everything in-house, it’s just crazy,” said Ryan. “I really enjoy the customer service we’re able to provide and that we have the ability to do it better than our competitors. Between the steels we use, the knowledge of welders, fabricators, draftsmen, engineering – it really takes an entire zoo to run it — but we build products that outlast the competition.”
